Bird Drink Set
Prototyping, sketch, model making, slip casting, glazing
A porcelain sake set of a bottle and cups which are inspired from birds in nature. Its’ form captures motherhood shown in bird’s feeding translating the bird's soft, subtle, and feminine figure.
The head of the bottle slightly leans towards its spout creating a parabolic line. The convex belly of the bottle adds a lively mass to its dominant curve. Moreover, it connects the feeding behavior of the bird to fill the cup with the bottle, creating meaning to the drinking experience.
The drink set is made by the slip-casting method with white porcelain. Different glazes are applied after the first firing.
The bottles are cast out of three-part mold, and the cups are cast out of one-part mold.
